What Does the Cross Remind You?

I've been thinking about this question this week, as I prepare for our Good Friday service.  Then I thought this we would be something that others are probably thinking about.  So...

What does the cross mean to you?

  1. hmmm..wut does the cross mean to me..im going to say the typical answer first..that jesus christ died for us..when i see the cross im always thankful to have jesus in my life. It gives me the strength, courage, love, faith and hope in my life. The cross always reminds me how much jesus loves us no matter what we do and he listens to us and listens to our prayers!

  2. If asked what defined you at the core, most people might not say: I'm a slave. However, that is essentially what the cross means. We have a master, and we are his servants. But step back for a moment. I'm getting all this from a cross? A crucifix, which is essentially an instrument of death and torture? What the cross shows me is that I am a servant of a master who would die for me. A God, a King of Kings, who would willingly lay down his innocent life for my sinful one. When we see things that way, it makes it a privilege and an honor to be a servant. The cross reminds me that I'm a servant, a servant of one selfless, loving, faithful, and wonderfully merciful God.

  3. For me.. the cross represents the death of myself and a new beginning with Christ. On Good Friday as we wrote down on sheets of paper our prayers I kept thinking about all the things I do wrong. I thought about my sins and how it weighs me down. But as I poured out my heart and pinned those burdens to the cross.. I was reminded that with Christ, there is a new beginning. Because of His love and sacrifice I am able to have a fresh start. Not just yesterday.. not just today... but everyday. I know in my mind that this doesn't mean I will stop sinning.. but it just reminds me that it's Him that's at the center of my existence.. and He's the reason I live with never ending grace and mercy.
