Friday, July 12 - Scripture Meditation

Matthew 5:14-16

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

  1. Keith Green in his song "Oh Lord, You're Beautiful" writes,

"I want to take your word and shine it all around.
But first help me just, to live it Lord.
And when I'm doing well, help me to never seek a crown.
For my reward is giving glory to you."

Lord, when I do "good deeds", help me to do it in such a way that when people see it, they will utter, "what an amazing God!"

  2. A light has a responsibility. Especially as Jesus says it here, we his disciples are given a commission to light the way for others.

Father, help me to always remember this... I have been placed here by you for a reason. May I shine this light so that you might be revealed unto others.
