Thursday, July 11 - Scripture Meditation

Matthew 5:13

"You are the salt of the earth.  But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?  It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot."

  1. It is said that familiarity breeds contempt, and in the case of Scriptures, familiarity often leads to the diminishment of amazement, awe, and impact. That I could be useless to my Lord does not faze me as it should. Lord, may the fear of this reality that I may be of no value but to be thrown out and trampled cause me break down in utter humility and cling to your Spirit to help me be the salt you called us to be.

  2. Its possible to be 'salt' and not be salty. It possible to be a Christian and not be Christ-ian. I wonder if I would know if I were no longer salty... would I still insist that I am salt?
