Wednesday, July 17 - Scripture Meditation

Matthew 5:23-24

“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.

  1. There is something too simple about this... of course our "offering" is tainted if we fail to understand that our reconciliation with God demands reconciliation with others!

But, Lord, how often have I disobeyed you in this?!?

  2. There is a sense of urgency in this verse. STOP. Drop whatever you are doing (even worshipping God) and GO and be reconciled. It's so easy to postpone reconciliation. It's so easy to say "tomorrow". But Jesus reminds us that reconciliation should attempted at the first opportunity. Lord, help me be quick to apologize when I am wrong and quick to forgive when I'm wronged.
