I think my preference is to avoid mourning altogether. That is try and control my life to minimize disappointments and hurts. But as I meditate on this verse, I realize that it's not those who do not mourn that are blessed, but rather those who are comforted in their mourning. There's a sweetness to being comforted in the midst of mourning. Reminds me of Rev. 21:4 (quoting Isa 25:8), "He will wipe every tear from their eyes." I long for the day when God will wipe away all our tears...
Lord, may I always remember your presence in my times of mourning...
